HYDRA got some new vehicles in their aresenal

November, 11. 2010.

Looking at the images from Captain America: The First Avenger that came online two weeks back, it becomes fairly obvious that the evil terrorist organization HYDRA will play a substantial role in the upcoming Joe Johnston film. We've already seen The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) sporting a patch on his left shoulder declaring his allegiance to the group, some soldiers on motorcycles and even a submarine. But how does HYDRA get around over rough terrain while making sure that they are well equipped for battle?

CBM has released a few new on-set pictures from the Captain America set and have revealed the new HYDRA transportation method when not on roads or underwater: tanks. Sporting the nifty little symbol on the side, the vehicle looks a bit tiny, but I'm plenty sure that it can pack a pretty nifty punch (that canon on top looks like plenty of fun). Just think, only eight more months until we can see Chris Evans in full gear climb on top of one of those, open up the hatch, and beat the ever-loving pulp out of everyone inside. I personally can't wait.

New plot details revealed for Captain America

November, 1. 2010.

For those of you who haven't picked up the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly featuring Captain America on the cover, here are a few more story and plot details revealed from the Joe Johnston directed World War II action film.  You can read the details below.
We all know the story of Captain America – a scrawny solider named Steve Rogers undergoes an experiment and becomes a superman. Since Evans got all bulked up for the role, in the scenes where he is scrawny, Johnston will use “clever camera angles, costume trickery and special effects that will digitally reduce Evans’ body or even put his face on a skinny actor”

The main plot features “Captain America as the leader of a team of elite soldiers from various countries , known in the comic books as the Howling Commandos.” And that mission will certainly deal with the Red Skull (Weaving), Hitler’s head of weaponry and the Tesseract, aka, the Cosmic Cube.

Since Captain America: The First Avenger is the last Marvel film before Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, it has to set up that film. But it’s set several decades in the past. So, the film will begin and end with the classic frozen in ice storyline. Prologue and epilogue style.

The classic comic book costume with the wings on the head and stuff WILL appear in the movie. Evans wears it during one scene where he’s used as a tool for propaganda. He hates it though and afterwards goes to Howard Stark of Stark Industries to help him build the new, more advanced suit that’s in most of the film.
The information above confirms a lot of the rumors and news that have been floating around the internet about the Howling Commandos and the classic frozen bookends. It's great to see that these elements are actually in place.

It was also revealed that Evans was a little freaked out about signing up for the role because he didn't want to be locked into a nine picture deal. He ended up only signing up for six. The nine picture deal included a Captain America trilogy, The Avengers trilogy and then “appearances in three more Marvel movies to be named later.” Obviously three of these movie won't happen with Chris Evans unless they re-negotiate the contract at a later date.

Last week several images were released from the film, and it seemed like the look of the film got a very positive reception. I liked what I saw, and I can't wait to see more!

The film stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci and Hayley Atwell. Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22, next year! See ya there!

First official look at Chris Evans as Captain America

October, 28. 2010.

The upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly, in stores tomorrow, has an in-depth look at CAPTAIN AMERICA including a cover shot that gives us our first official look at Chris Evans in costume. Sadly we don't have a hi-res version of the cover just yet but I'm sure it'll be available soon so stay tuned.

Inside the mag, Evans talks about the movie saying he turned the part down three separate times before finally acquiescing. Says Evans, “At the time, I remember telling a buddy of mine, ‘If the movie bombs, I’m f—-ed. If the movie hits, I’m f—-ed!’” He explains he was mostly just scared and decided not to make a decision based on fear so he went with it.

First images of HYDRA submarine

September, 28. 2010.

Good grief, there's a hell of a lot of behind the scenes photos leaking out from the set of Captain America: The First Avenger! No joke, it seems like when I get online there s a collection of new set photos. I guess the production crew doesn't really care that everyone involved with the production are taking pictures and posting them online.

Here are a couple great little photos of a HYDRA Submarine. I love the cool retro designs of everything I've seen so far, this is pretty cool looking. The dock area was transformed into 1940s New York. What do you all think?

As you already know, the story will follow a young soldier called Steve Rogers, who volunteers to undergo a series of experiments and becomes Captain America.
